FAQ

How do I get a QR Reader and do they cost anything?

FREE QR reader apps can be downloaded from the Apple App Store for Apple devices and Google Play for Android. Links can be found on the bottom of the page.

What is a QR Code?

A QR code (abbreviated from Quick Response Code) is the trademark for a type of two-dimensional barcode. A QR code consists of black modules (square dots) arranged in a square grid on a white background, which can be read by an imaging device.

Are the online memorials only for those recently deceased?

Our memorials can be set up for anyone who has passed away.

What are the QR plaques made from?

Our standard plaques are made from high quality stainless steel to ensure longevity in all elements. Our premium range includes anodised aluminium plaques (ask us about colour options) and treated titanium.

Can I link the online memorial to other websites or social media?

Your memorial archive has social media links embedded and can connect to the deceased’s social media pages. In the Family History tab of the archive is room for links to other websites such as Ancestry.com or other platforms.

Can I send my relatives a link to the online memorial or do they need to scan in the unique QR code?

Absolutely, you can do both. All archives have their own unique URL based on the deceased’s initials and their date of death (to avoid identity theft). You can copy and paste the URL or the QR code itself to send to relatives and friends.

Can I allow friends or family to contribute to a Memorial?

Yes, once you have registered you may add any family or friends to the Authorised Users list within your memorial, this allows them to upload content to the memorial. Although they can add their own photos, videos, audio and more to the memorial, they will not be able to delete content you have added.

How is the QR Code plaque affixed to the headstone?

Eternal Memoria provides double-sided weatherproof adhesive tape with every QR code plaque. Once attached to the back of the plaque, this tape will securely affix the plaque to the headstone. It is important that chosen area of the headstone has been cleaned and dried prior to attaching the plaque. You can increase the moisture resistance of the adhesive by surrounding the edge of the plaque with clear silicone sealant.

Eternal Memoria suggests that for an even stronger bond, you should use water resistant epoxy cement on the back of the plaque, instead of the adhesive tape. If you choose to use epoxy cement to affix the plaque, you should also add clear silicone sealant around the edge of the plaque for added moisture resistance. Following these careful measures will ensure that the plaque will retain a strong bond for many years.

Will the QR Code plaque bond with any type of headstone or memorial?

Eternal Memoria provides double-sided weatherproof adhesive tape with every QR code plaque, once you affix the tape to the back of the QR code plaque, it can then be mounted to virtually any smooth surface. You must be sure to clean and dry the chosen area of the headstone or memorial prior to attaching the plaque. Once the plaque has been mounted, Eternal Memoria suggests that you apply a clear silicone sealant around the edge of the plaque as added protection against moisture finding its way under the plaque and compromising the adhesive.
